“Loons Symbols of the Northwoods”
Wednesday, August 27th
Reiter Center, Three Lakes 6:30 p.m.
Ecologist Sandy Gillum, author of the book “Loon Summer” will share field stories of her experiences in studying the common loon. She will also discuss loons as a symbol of the Northwoods. A book signing will follow the program, and her books will be available for purchase. Program will be held at the Reiter Center located at 1858 S. Michigan St. in Three Lakes due to road construction in front of the library.
Author John Bates
Wednesday, October 8th
6:30 p.m.
Northwoods author John Bates to discuss his latest book, “Graced by the Seasons: Fall and Winter in the Northwoods.” He is the author of seven books and a contributor to four others, all of which focus on the natural history of the Northwoods. His poetry has appeared in a number of journals. He has worked as a naturalist in Wisconsin’s Northwoods for 19 years, leading an array of trips all designed to help people further understand the remarkable diversity and beauty of nature, and our place within it. A book signing will follow the program, and books will be available for purchase.
